“Ask and ye shall receive”
Sermon on the Mount. St Matthew.
(The Gospel History, Section 43*)
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
“Ask and ye shall receive”
(The Saviour of the World, Vol II Book III Poem LIII)
The Master said:—
But ye must ask, my children; all is yours,
But not a careless boon your God confers:
Who asketh not, is not aware of need,
Would waste that good he getteth without heed.
But he who finds void places in His life,
A hundred needs, distresses, painful strife,
He looks about for help, and sure supply
All hungers of his heart to satisfy;
Then lifts his eyes to God who giveth all;
And on his Father he makes haste to call;
Behold, God, watching tender o’er his days,
Hears him and answers even whilst he prays!
