Give to the Armitt
The Armitt Museum and Library is a unique combination of museum, library, and gallery devoted to preserving and sharing the cultural heritage of the Lake District in England. Mary Louisa Armitt founded the Library to foster an exchange of ideas in the local community. The Library opened in 1912. More than a century later, it continues to support the spirit of enquiry as an icon in Ambleside, England.
The Armitt Library is the international center for the Charlotte Mason archive. The archive is an extraordinary collection of books, documents, and artifacts related to Charlotte Mason and the PNEU. In the library may be found the bound volumes of The Parents’ Review, the original versions of The Home Education Series, and many letters from Charlotte Mason’s personal correspondence. The library also contains many of the original PNEU programmes, and enables us to better understand how Charlotte Mason ran her schools.
The Armitt is a private entity that is sustained by donations. Please consider making a gift to help preserve the Charlotte Mason archive. You can now donate to the Armitt using PayPal! To make your donation, go to the Armitt website, search on “Donation” and click on the “Donate with PayPal” button. And be sure to drop a line to Timothy Bartlett to let him know that his friends at Charlotte Mason Poetry sent you.
